Almost perfect

Movie:
3 Idiots

Watching a hindi movie in a primarily Hollywood theater with sold out tickets is not something that happens everyday. With Rajkumar Hirani as director and Aamir khan as actor, we already kinda know what we are going to get. This one turned out even better.

Delhi 6

Movie:
Delhi-6

I was generally dissapointed with Delhi 6, although I thought that there were some incredibly well edited and well shot scenes in it.

Rock on Rocks

Movie:
Rock On

"Meri Laundry Ka Ek Bill, Ek Aadhi Padi Novel… Na na na na na..."

Expecting viewer's memory loss

Movie:
Ghajini

Unless you are suffering from amnesia yourself here is a movie trivia that you should be able to answer. The tattoos on the body, the polaroid snaps, the notes scattered around the house and Short term memory loss, happening every 15 minutes... what movie is that?

Rock on - Oh for 60 minutes

Movie:
Rock On

Caught a press screening of Rock On at the beautiful Saratoga area in Northern California. 60 minutes, oh 60 minutes seperates this movie from being a reasonable watch to being a classic watch. It was 60
minutes too long, if 60 minutes had been shaved off a super movie would have played out.

Inspired by a book?

First of all, I think this movie is a masterpiece. However, there is one doubt in my mind. Did Amole Gupte got inspired to write this script from the book "Thank you Mr. Falker". The storyline of the book and TZP are very similar except that the kid is a boy in TZP while the dyslexic child in the book is a girl.

Aamir does it better

Aamir at the helm of his career is full of choices. He could just say "YES" and loads of masala flick producers and directors will be camping in his yard.

Aamir is in a class above! He proves it every year with only one meaningful film. A film that is commercial motivated yet does not succumb to the pressures of commercial cinema.

Stale wine in a new bottle

If somebody asked me to put the synopsis of the movie in one sentence, I will say "This is a movie that promotes temporary whoredom to indian girls to rope in rich and handsome grooms."

Oh man this script is so contradictory, it is purely amazing. So, wife keeps sewing petticoats to make ends meet for this poor family and the husband squanders it on lottery. But the guy is righteous enough to not sign any false documents to get this pension.

Great work Mira

Movie:
Migration

After watching Namesake I thought Mira Nair has lately lost her creative juices. i watched this short and I regained my respect for Mira Nair as a director. Taking subject matter that no one wants to lay their hands on is a problem as it is and then doing an incredible job on it is even rare.
