Ishaan Awasthi is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate; colours, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks and neatness. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class.

First of all, I think this movie is a masterpiece. However, there is one doubt in my mind. Did Amole Gupte got inspired to write this script from the book "Thank you Mr. Falker". The storyline of the book and TZP are very similar except that the kid is a boy in TZP while the dyslexic child in the book is a girl.

By no means I am hinting that this is plagiarism and so what if the story was inspired by this book. It is the rendering of the story and emotions in the film medium that is important and Aamir Khan has done a wonderful job with that.

I did feel that the build up of the story was just splendid but the ending was rather quick. The struggle of the child has been so very well dealt with, while on the other hand his crash course in reading and writing comes so quickly it feels very implausible. I feel the story would have created an even better impact if the boy's focus was channeled into something that he was good at, painting. It could even have dramatized to the extent of winning a state competition or something. Something that will belittle an purely academic achievement.

I agree with the other reviewer about the song "Maa"; It did give me goosebumps too. All I gotta say to the film makers is that you guys have created a masterpiece.
