Recognizing Bollywood 2007

It is a big jungle out there when it comes to figuring out the best of the best revealing attire of item chhamiya in Bollywood but, let's leave that out to 440 different award ceremonies being sponsored by business conglomerates who would love to rub theirs with just any celeb, but I digress...

The new breed of directors are breaking the norm and in my opinion deserve some accolades for touching subjects that might not be commercially motivated or experimenting with new concepts.

If someone asked me (not that someone would) how I would rate Mumbai's year in film, here is what I would respond with:

Best Screenplay/Writer

1. Amole Gupte (Taare Zameen Par)
2. Sriram Raghavan (Johnny Gaddaar)
3. Anurag Kashyap (Black Friday. Screenplay adaptation)

Best Cinematographers:

1. S Natarajan Subramaniam (Eklavya - The Royal Guard and Black Friday)

Best Editors:

1. Pooja Ladha Surti (Johnny Gaddaar)
2. Aarti Bajaj (Black Friday)

Best Actors:

1. Darsheel Safary (Taare Zameen Par)
2. Pankaj Kapoor (The Blue Umbrella)

Best Actresses:

1. Kareena Kapoor (Jab We Met)
2. Tabu (Cheeni Kum)

Best Director

1. Anurag Kashyap (Black Friday)
2. Shriram Raghavan (Johnny Gaddar)

Best Film

1. Taare Zameen Par
2. Black Friday
